I am fascinated by the rapid progress in all aspects of Medicine and Surgery, and especially in Dermatology.
I am particulary impressed with the Immunology segment of Dermatology, including the TNF alpha inhibitorsand their role in clearing Psoriasis and the recently (and partially) clarified paradox of them stimulating the appearance of Psoriasis during treatment of Rhumatoid Arthritis and IBD.
I am also in awe of what Imiquimod can do, not only in the treatment of warts but also in the treatment of certain skin cancers and possibly systemic cancers. It may play a role in attacking Cancer Stem Cells.
I am also impressed withthe gigantic progress in Cosmetic Dermatology, including Hair Transplants (which I did in the 70-s) Laser Resurfacing (which I started doing in the 1990-s and more recently Fractionated CO2 Laser Resurfacing, Thermage, Intense Pulsed Light, facial and leg Laser treatments, fillers, etc.
A more challenging progress is taking place now, namely Electronic Health Records. and most of us experience some frustration due to the multiple steps and constant innovations.
The progress in Medicine, especially during the last two decades, has been awesome, and I expect more of the same in the future.
